The Island has an amazing number of things for you to explore and do. Besides the spectacular regattas, festivals and events, there are fantastic walking and cycle routes, great beaches, towns, castles and countryside to see.
The island measures approximately 26 by 15 miles making it easily accessible. It’s also a great place to eat and drink. You can go sailing, horse riding or simply chill out on one of the many beaches.
Busses travel is every 20 minutes from East Cowes to Newport and to Ryde where there are onward connections. (Our Tip) Bring your cycles to the IOW especially if your sightseeing away from the Cowes locality. BoSun’s Lodge is situated just a few hundred meters from the “Round the Island Cycle Route”.
Eating out locally – East Cowes is an up and coming development area and our suggestions for eating out are; The Folly Inn at Whippingham or The Lifeboat at East Cowes Marina. They are within walking distance or a short taxi ride. A local Chinese takeaway restaurant and cafes are also close. Our neighbours at Waverley Park Caravan and Camping site also welcome you to visit them for drinks and food. Alternatively, you can cross the river into West Cowes to explore all that it offers.
